On Wednesday the 26 of September we had a garden day with our families. This was the day we opened our new kai garden. The seniors had a kapa haka group that performed for the junior syndicate and also for the parents. We as a class went into the junior classes and viewed their work.

Positives

What did you like about this term’s unit?

• Using a camera.  
• Having the opportunity to edit a movie. Some of us are now confident to edit a movie and are now going to be helping our teacher edit T.P.S News.
• 
  
• Working as a group to plan our movies.  
• This unit helped us build stronger relationships with each other especially when we were working as a group to produce and edit our movies.  
• Speeches! - doing and preparing a speech helped developed our presenting skills. 
• We have become confident in sharing our ideas without being shy. 
• Learning about movie making equipment like the tripod, imove programme, flip cam etc.  
• Enjoyed learning about the movie making process - brainstorming, planning, script writing, storyboarding, filming, editing, presenting.  
• Learning about the different effective camera shots.  
• MAKING A MOVIE! 
• Everyone in our class was in a movie.
• Finishing the movie off with a whole school Academy awards. This made us feel very proud of our hardwork! We felt like REAL professional film makers.
• Our whanau and friends being proud of us - they really appreciated our movies.
• We have definitely expanded our knowledge about movie making and have developed good movie making skills that we want to share with others. We look forward to continuing our Movie Magic journey and learning more fun ways to extend our movie making skills.

What challenges did you have with this unit? 

• Waiting for our turn to film because there was only one flip-cam and a tripod.  
• We had some groups using the same filming location so we had to wait for them to finish filming and sometimes it ment we couldn't film because they were taking too long. For example the staff room, corridor, reading room etc.
• We couldn’t film sometimes as some students were away and the weather was not too good as well.  
• Memorising our lines for our scripts. 

Interesting

What interested you about this unit?

• The editing process.  
• Adding sound effects and music to our movies.  
• Learning how professional film makers make movies and trying to develop their skills throughout the process of our film making experience.  
• Learning the movie elements helped us to make our movies interesting to watch!

  How could we improve on this unit next time. 
•   More flip-cams and tripods.  
• Have the Imovie programme on our netbooks so that we could edit our movies instead of waiting for a group to finish.

Best Friends

Today I read a story about Best Friends .This story is a play. We are practicing our presentation skills as this will help us prepare for our movie making project next week.

The character I play in the story is Rabbit she is scared of the dog but she finds out that dog is friendly.

Tom, Jerry and Mickey Mouse

This is my narrative story. I had to write a story for homework based on a picture of a cat, mouse and Mickey mouse. Here is my story:

One day mickey mouse was walking through the forest and came across Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse.Mickey saw that Tom and Jerry were fighting so mickey went to help.

“ Why are you guys fighting” asked mickey mouse “I want the cheese said Tom, I want
the Cheese! said Jerry.

Mickey Took the Cheese and cut the cheese in half and said now you guys can share. They thanked mickey and everyone was happy.

The Little Brave Tailor

I am learning to find key words and phrases that describes a main character in the text.

Today I read a book called The Brave Little Tailor. The main character in this book is the Tailor.

• He is a brave man because he kills two giants and and a boar.
• He wears a brown belt that says ‘Seven At One Blow’ because he killed seven flies all at once.
• He is not scared. He is confident.
• He married the king’s princess.
• One thing the Tailor likes to say is ‘Seven in One Blow.

I want to be like the tailor because I like how he was brave. I think tailor was so brave that he knows how to stand up for himself.

Tim's Costume

Today I read a book called Tim's Costume. This book was about Tim getting invited to a costume party. He was trying on lots of different costumes suggested by his sister and his mum but he did not like their ideas. He thought hard about his costume. At the end of this story he finally found his costume. 


I think Tim's should go to this costume party looking like a Scarecrow.

We think that people should watch this movie

My Holiday Decription

Dear patosina

In my holidays it was my birthday. I turned 11. I went to the movies for my birthday it was so cool. I watch Lorax in 3D. And  after that we got some donuts. I was so happy because it was my birthday.

I also did waka ama in the weekend. My family and i went to panmure wharf .It was a progamme for kids .I got in the waka and nearly tipped over !

I saw Arapeta and Tim Fi at the pools. Me and my cousins had lots of fun there. My holidays were awesome !

Hi my name is Leigh-Amber I am 10 years old .I have beautiful long black hair, brown soft skin and a small nose .

I live with my Mum ,Dad, brother and sister. We have a cat and two dogs . We love our pets because they are fun to play with.

I am Maori and I am so proud to be Maori . When I think about my culture I think about Maori patterns, Kapa Haka Maori art and crafts.

I enjoy cooking and playing outside. The best topics I like at school are reading, writing and maths.

My best friend's name is Lauren. She is pretty and she has long black hair. Lauren has dark brown eyes and she is taller then me

When I grow up I want to be a Doctor so I can make people feel better .

My  goal is to be a great learner so I can level up in all school subjects . Also, to do my very best in all topics of schoolwork.
